Moundville Elementary School News

Well the school year is off with a blast and the first round of progress reports went out this last week. I am hoping that everyone's kids are doing well. I would like to keep the community updated on what is going on with the school. I feel that the more the community knows about the school the more they are willing to help when help is needed. Cookie dough sales ended September 9, 2009. I hope that everyone got their orders in that wanted the product. If not they will be doing another cookie dough sale next year before school lets out. So if you missed your chance this time you can have another next spring. Also there was a PTO meeting August 25, 2009 were Principle Garner discussed what was going on with the school this year and new PTO officers were voted on. The new PTO President for the school year 2009-2010 is Candice Hunter. She is looking for support from the families who's children attend Moundville Elementary. If you have not joined the PTO at the school it is not to late to join. It is $5.00 per family. With the money raised from PTO membership a new copy machine will be purchased for the school which they need something aweful. The ones that they have now continue to break down and are having to be repaired while the teachers are having to use their personal ink from printers and scanners to make sure the students have the proper papers they need to do their assignments. I am apart of the PTO and I find that the more we are involeved in our childrens education the better outcome they will have in life. Also I would like to thank the people who have been turning in their box tops for education. There are a lot of them in the container at the school which means this is very good news. Also I would like to remind you that there are other labels that you can turn in to help the students raise money for school. You have the Cambell Soup Labels and also the Tyson Project A+ Labels that comes on Tyson Chicken Products. Make sure that you clip them as well and send them to the school. The more labels we get the more money that is able to come into the school. I will keep you updated as much as possible on the news of the school. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me at amberlafoy@mound.net and I will get back with you as soon as possible. Last but not least I would like to show my school spirit and wish the HALE COUNTY WILDCATS the best of luck at tomorrow nights game against Fultondale. GO WILDCATS!!!!!
